Ojén is a white village in the Sierra de las Nieves, about ten minutes from Marbella, but most of its apartments are not in the village itself. They are in La Mairena, a residential area in the hills above Elviria that belongs to the municipality of Ojén, although it is usually thought of as part of Marbella East. There you will find complexes with gardens and shared pools, such as El Soto and El Vicario, among the pine woods. The other focus is Palo Alto, a recently built gated complex with luxury apartments and penthouses.
These are spacious apartments by coastal standards: most have two or three bedrooms and around 147 m² of built area, with large terraces facing the sea and the mountains, including ground-floor units with private gardens and penthouses with solariums. Right now, 60 of the 69 look out to sea. They appeal to buyers who want peace, cooler air and nature without giving up the beach. Check whether the building has a lift —some in La Mairena do not—, the community fees and what facilities they include.
From La Mairena it is about ten minutes down to the beaches and shops of Elviria, twenty to central Marbella and around forty-five to Málaga airport, with several golf courses a few minutes away. Some complexes give owners access to sports and social facilities, such as the El Soto club. A car is essential.
