Buying an apartment in Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús, the marina José Banús opened in 1970 about six kilometres west of central Marbella, brings together restaurants, luxury boutiques and a nightlife that is at its liveliest in summer. Buying an apartment here means choosing between three settings: the white buildings on the marina front, looking over the yachts; the complexes beside the beaches on either side of the port; and the second-line communities, a short stroll from everything.

Two-bedroom apartments dominate, with around 132 m² of built area and terraces made for eating outdoors; there are also duplex penthouses with solariums and some larger three-bedroom flats close to the beach. Marina Banús and La Alcazaba are among the complexes that appear most often in the offer. Buyers are mainly second-home owners and people who want to live car-free by the sea; check whether the property has a garage space and what the community fees cover. 53 of the 138 apartments have sea views.

From the marina you can walk to the beach, the supermarkets and Nueva Andalucía; San Pedro de Alcántara is about five minutes away by car, central Marbella around fifteen and Málaga airport some forty-five by motorway. If you plan holiday lets, first confirm that the community rules and municipal regulations allow them and that the home can be entered in the Andalusian Tourism Register (Registro de Turismo de Andalucía).
