Buying an apartment in Marbella
Apartments are the most common way into the Marbella market, and there is choice from Guadalmina to Cabopino. The largest concentration is in Nueva Andalucía, the golf valley rising from Puerto Banús towards La Concha, with complexes around Aloha, Los Naranjos and Las Brisas; Puerto Banús, Elviria, the Golden Mile and San Pedro de Alcántara follow. In the town centre, near Plaza de los Naranjos, there are flats for buyers who want to do everything on foot.
Three- and two-bedroom units dominate, with around 123 m² of built area and a terrace, often in gated communities with gardens, a shared pool, parking and a storage room. 560 of the 1,230 have sea views. Buyers include families who live here all year and Europeans who spend long seasons on the coast. Look closely at community fees: 24-hour security, tropical gardens or a spa push them up, and they vary widely from one complex to the next.
Each area offers its own way of life: in the centre, Puerto Banús or the Golden Mile you can walk to the beach and restaurants; Nueva Andalucía has spacious complexes among the golf courses; San Pedro de Alcántara keeps a small-town feel, with its boulevard and promenade; and Elviria adds pine woods and wide beaches. Málaga airport is about forty minutes away on the AP-7.
