Buying a penthouse in Fuengirola

In a town of apartment blocks like Fuengirola, a penthouse adds what a flat usually lacks: a large terrace, light and open views. The offer falls into two groups. On one side, penthouses on top of buildings along the promenade, in the centre and in Los Boliches, with the sea in front and everything within walking distance. On the other, those on the hills, above all in the complexes of Reserva del Higuerón —the area with the most penthouses for sale— and in Torreblanca, looking out over the bay.

The typical penthouse has 112 m² of built area, two or three bedrooms and a terrace that often works as an extra living room; duplex penthouses add a solarium on the upper level. The sea is visible from 79 of the 107 penthouses. Buyers are mainly couples and residents who want to live outdoors for much of the year. Compare orientation, privacy and shade: a south-facing terrace with an awning is usable all year round, while a west-facing one catches the sunsets.

Penthouses on the promenade and in the centre are a few minutes’ walk from the beach, the marina and the train stations; those in Reserva del Higuerón and upper Torreblanca win on views and communal facilities but call for a car. Carvajal, next to Benalmádena, and the area around the Myramar shopping centre are quieter alternatives with the beach close by.
