Buying a villa in Fuengirola

Fuengirola has a very small, almost fully built-up municipal area, so detached villas are scarce here. The area with the largest supply is Torreblanca, the hillside east of the centre that rises from the beach, with residential streets and sea views. The rest appears in very specific pockets: Pueblo López, a neighbourhood of white houses with gardens right in the town centre; Los Pacos, further inland; and El Coto, on the Mijas side of the boundary.

Villas here have around 235 m² of built area on plots of about 550 m², with three to five bedrooms; 30 of the 41 villas come with their own pool. Many are houses several decades old that have been thoroughly renovated, and some keep their original Andalusian style, with patios and mature gardens. They suit families and residents who want a garden and a pool without giving up a town where every service is close at hand.

If views are the priority, look at upper Torreblanca; if you prefer to do everything on foot, the lower part and Pueblo López are close to the beach and the train. In older houses, check that the built area matches the Catastro and the Land Registry —unauthorised extensions are not unusual— and inspect the pool, the roof and, on sloping plots, the retaining walls.
