Alhaurín el Grande has kept its farming character: orange trees, olive groves and vegetable plots surround a white town that looks over the Guadalhorce valley from the foot of the Sierra de Mijas. That mix shows in its houses. The old quarter has two- and three-storey village houses, many renovated, with a patio and roof terrace; around it are communities of villas and townhouses, such as Alhaurín Golf; and in the countryside, fincas and cortijos with fruit trees and sometimes a guest house.

Houses for sale tend to have around 266 m² of built area on plots of about 2,408 m², with three or four bedrooms; 44 of the 75 include a private pool. Homes in the centre, usually the most affordable, put shops and bars on your doorstep; villas and fincas suit those who want space, a vegetable garden and views. In the old quarter, check the structure, damp and parking; in the countryside, the access, the water supply and that every building is legal.

Málaga city is about thirty-five minutes away and Coín around ten; the town has shops, schools, a health centre and life all year round, plus an international community settled here for decades, which makes arriving from abroad easier. If you are after countryside, the north of the municipality offers fincas in a quieter, more agricultural setting.
