Buying an apartment in Benalmádena

Benalmádena is lived on three levels, and each has its own kind of apartment. On the coast are the beachfront complexes, such as Aloha Playa, and the buildings around Puerto Marina, the marina that made the town famous; in Torrequebrada, communities with gardens next to the golf course. In the middle lies Arroyo de la Miel, the everyday centre, and above it Benalmádena Pueblo and its hillside developments, such as Stupa Hills or El Retamar, overlooking the whole bay.

The usual layout is two bedrooms and some 95 m² of built area, with a terrace and a shared pool; three-bedroom apartments are also common. The sea can be seen from 150 of them. Buyers are residents drawn by the climate and the nearby airport, as well as people planning long stays or letting. On the upper levels, check how steep the street is and where you will park; near the marina, bear in mind the nightlife, which is lively in summer.

Málaga airport is about fifteen minutes away, and the commuter train stops at Arroyo de la Miel and Torremuelle, with direct links to Málaga and Fuengirola. If you want to let to holidaymakers, first check that the community statutes do not forbid it, that local regulations allow it in that area and that the apartment qualifies for registration in the Andalusian Tourism Register.
