Buying a house in Manilva

The word house covers very different homes in Manilva. In the old quarter of the village, known for its Moscatel wine, there are two-storey houses on narrow streets, with a patio or roof terrace and no community fees. On the coast, homes in communities dominate —townhouses, semi-detached houses and single-storey bungalows in La Duquesa, Princesa Kristina or Aldea Beach—, many with a shared pool. In the hills and countryside inland you will find detached villas and the occasional country estate with land.

The typical house has three or four bedrooms and around 197 m² of built area, with a median plot of 545 m², ranging from the patio of a village house to the garden of a villa. 38 of the 98 houses have their own pool. They appeal to families who need more room than a flat offers, buyers who want to live on one level —hence the interest in bungalows— and those who would rather not depend on a community.

Houses in the coastal communities are a few minutes from La Duquesa marina, the beach and the shops of Sabinillas; those in the village, about five minutes from the coast, offer local life and festivities such as the grape harvest fiesta (Fiesta de la Vendimia) in early September; and country homes bring space and quiet at the cost of relying on the car. Estepona is about twenty minutes away and the city of Málaga just over an hour.
